On Sunday, February 2nd, the little town of Candelara is celebrating the fair “Candelora”. This day remembers Christ presentation to the Temple in Jerusalem.

The solemn procession of the “Candelora” goes from the church of Saint Lucy to the castle of the Candelaria and the church of Saint Stephen.

This is popularly known as Candelora because on this day are blessed candles, a symbol of Christ, “a light for revelation to the Gentiles”, as well as the baby Jesus was called by the old priest Simeon at the time of his presentation in the Temple of Jerusalem.

A solemn and evocative candlelight procession that will start at 5 p.m. from the small church of Saint Lucy, as prescribed in the ancient Roman rite. Here at 5.30 the Saint Mass will be celebrated.
